Film Synopsis
Every night a shepherd reads aloud a murder mystery, pretending his sheep can understand. When he is found dead, the sheep realize at once that it was a murder and think they know everything about how to go about solving it.
A kindly shepherd named George Hardy (Hugh Jackman) reads aloud detective novels to his flock every night. When George is found dead from poisoning in his meadow, the intelligent sheep—led by Lily (voiced by Julia Louis-Dreyfus)—realize it is murder and use the tropes from the stories they heard to solve the crime.
About the Speaker
Dr. Kate Huyvaert is the Rocky Crate DVM & Wild Sheep Foundation Endowed Chair for Wild Sheep Disease Research. While Dr. Huyvaert’s research focus is on wildlife disease ecology, she and her lab group apply both field and laboratory techniques to questions about pathogens and parasites at the interfaces between domestic animals, wildlife, and humans. Kate has a keen interest in applying knowledge from her work to conserve the world’s biodiversity.
