The Parkway has stood at the corner of Charles and North for over a century, and served Baltimore cinema-lovers thousands of films from the silent era into the 1970s. Baltimore boasted many fine theaters built to present motion pictures prior to The Parkway, but for its size and beauty it has always been a rare gem.

The newly renovated SNF Parkway Theatre reopened in 2017 thanks to a coalition of public and private supporters led by the Producers Club of Maryland, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, the State of Maryland, Johns Hopkins University and MICA. The Parkway now serves as the home for the annual Maryland Film Festival and provides year-round film, new media, and live arts programming.
