Presented At
Film Forum New York, NY
Film Synopsis
Werner Herzog shows off his fascination with the human brain in his latest documentary.
Werner Herzog sets his sights on yet another mysterious landscape — the human brain — for clues as to why a hunk of tissue can produce profound thoughts and feelings while considering the philosophical, ethical, and social implications of fast-advancing neural technology.
About the Speaker
Cori Bargmann is the Torsten N. Wiesel Professor and Head of the Lulu and Anthony Wang Laboratory of Neural Circuits and Behavior at The Rockefeller University and Head of Science at the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative. She studies the neuronal basis of behavior in C. elegans, an animal whose small nervous system and powerful genetics provide unique opportunities to characterize genes, neurons, and circuits at multiple levels of analysis.
Richard Axel is an American molecular biologist and university professor in the Department of Neuroscience at Columbia University and investigator at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. His work on the olfactory system won him and Linda Buck, a former postdoctoral research scientist in his group, the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2004.
Jamie Daves is the Co-founder and Board Member of The Neurorights Foundation, the leading brain data research and advocacy organization in the world. https://www.jamiedaves.com/
